Salmon Arm is located on the Trans-Canada Highway/Highway 1 close to the mid-point between Vancouver, 463km/288mi west, and Calgary, 510km/317mi east. Highway 97B connects Salmon Arm with the Thompson Okanagan Valley to the south.

Car Travel

Many outdoor recreational attractions are accessible on paved roads, but four-wheel or all-wheel-drive vehicles, equipped with winter tires in season, are best suited for backcountry travel. Rental cars are available at several locations.

Public Transportation

Salmon Arm has no public transit system, but a private bus service, operated by KIA Transit Ltd, connects downtown Salmon Arm with Canoe and Silver Creek. Two taxi companies provide local area service.

Bus & Rail Travel

Intercity bus routes converge at Salmon Arm's bus depot. Greyhound Canada schedules multiple daily connections with Vancouver and Calgary as well as regional centres.

Salmon Arm has no passenger rail service.

Air Travel

The City of Salmon Arm operates the Shuswap Regional Airport, which has no regularly scheduled service but can accommodate small private aircraft and corporate jets.

Kelowna International Airport (99km/61.5mi) is the primary gateway with multiple daily flights to and from Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton and Seattle plus regional airports. Carriers include Air Canada, Central Mountain Air, Horizon Air and Westjet. Charters are also available.
