Despite the highway that cuts through from Whistler, Pemberton is still considered off the beaten track, and without a car, is otherwise inaccessible. While transfers between Vancouver and Whistler include limo, coach and train, these options do not extend to Pemberton.

Circle Tours

Pemberton is an excellent stop-over on circle tours that route between Vancouver, Hope, up the Fraser Canyon and Lillooet as well as larger plans that encompass the Interior and even the Kootenay Rockies region.

Car Travel

Driving is virtually the only way of reaching Pemberton. Car rentals are available in Whistler and Vancouver.

Air Travel

From Vancouver International Airport in Richmond, travelers are best advised to rent a car and drive to Pemberton. Pemberton Airport is a rural airport with no fuel services or navigational assistance. Although it has over 400 landings a year, most of this volume occurs in the summer and typically includes fire and rescue vehicles, small-craft private charters, gliders and helicopters.

Public Transportation

Greyhound Canada operates a daily service to and from Pemberton en route to Lillooet.

Train Travel

There are no trains to Pemberton.

Getting Around

There is no public transit within the Pemberton region. BC Transit's Whistler and Valley Express (WAVE) Transit System operates a rush hour service between Whistler, Pemberton and Mount Currie.

Pemberton Taxi does offer service as required within the area. To discover what Pemberton is really all about – the parks, rivers and natural surrounds, a car is an absolute must; a four-wheel drive is advised if plans include back-country, forestry roads. Bicycling is another option; Pemberton does offer rentals at Bike & Co.

Maps

The Pemberton Visitor Centre at the corner of Hwy 99 and Portage Rd, has numerous maps and information guides on the entire area including downtown walking tours, the provincial parks, Mount Currie, Birkenhead, D'Arcy and beyond to Lillooet.
