Osoyoos Transportation & Maps

Osoyoos Highway, Tourism BC photo
Osoyoos is a Canada-US border crossing point located at the junction of two major transportation routes. Highway 97 runs north-south the full length of British Columbia and beyond to California or Alaska. Highway 3 is a common route east to Calgary and west to Vancouver.

Car Travel

Osoyoos is relatively compact, easily walkable between downtown and the motel strip along the waterfront on Highway 3. While several walking paths and beaches are accessible on foot, many outdoor recreational activities are located beyond the urban centre and require car travel.

Winter tires or chains are strongly recommended on mountain roads from October through April. Road conditions at higher elevations can be treacherous even when excellent in the valley. Four-wheel or all-wheel-drive vehicles are best suited for rugged backcountry travel. Car rentals are not available in Osoyoos, but are found in Penticton, 61km/38mi north.

Bus and Rail Travel

Greyhound Canada buses stop at the British Columbia Visitor Centre @ Osoyoos, junction of Highways 3 and 97, and provide multiple daily connections with Vancouver and Calgary, as well as regional centres.

There is no passenger rail service to Osoyoos.
