The best way to thoroughly experience Clearwater is by vehicle as outdoor activities are fairly spread throughout the area. Public transportation and air travel via Kamloops International Airport are also options. Clearwater is 126km/78mi from Kamloops, 311km/193mi from Vancouver, 449km/279mi from Seattle, Washington, and 311km/193mi from Jasper, Alberta.
Car Travel Getting to Clearwater is easy. From Kamloops, drive north along Highway 5 (The Yellowhead) through Barriere. From Vancouver, connect to the Highway 5 (Coquihalla) at Hope to Kamloops; or take the Trans-Canada along the Fraser Canyon to Kamloops and connect to Highway 5 (The Yellowhead). From Jasper, Alberta, take Highway 16 through Mount Robson Provincial Park and connect to Highway 5 though Valemount, then south to Clearwater. The western reaches of the Wells Gray Provincial Park at Mahood Lake are accessible off of Highway 97 North at 100 Mile, via forest Grove and South Canim Lake Road. The Murtle Lake Nature Conservancy is reached via Blue River, also on Highway 5. There are no car rentals operators in Clearwater. However, car rentals are available in Kamloops, a 1.5-hour drive away. Public Transportation VIA Rail service to Clearwater is available from Vancouver and Kamloops, and Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. Greyhound Canada buses arrive daily from Vancouver and Kamloops, and Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.
