Snowshoeing is one of the North America's fastest-growing sports and one of the the best places to experience it is in the Thompson Okanagan. The region's four major resorts -Apex, Big White, Silver Star and Sun Peaks- all offer snowshoeing trails and guided tours, many of them often at night and involving spectacular sunsets and chocolate fondues. Another family-friendly resort, Mount Baldy, offers snowshoeing trails (shared with cross-country skiers) that lead through forest to memorable vistas. Those interested in backcountry experiences should head to Wells Gray Provincial Park, which offers guided tours into the vast, wilderness park.
