As the largest snow-activity facility on Vancouver Island, Mount Washington Alpine Resort is a winter sports paradise, and snowshoeing is a large -and growing- part of the festivities.

Location/Getting There
Mount Washington is located on Vancouver Island, a 20-minute drive west of Courtenay and Comox, as well as just over an hour's drive north of Nanaimo.

  • Mount Washington Alpine Ski Resort offers one of the deepest natural snow bases in BC.
  • Lesson and rentals are available at the resort.
  • Cross-country skiers have use of an extensive trail system that is partially located within Strathcona Provincial Park while snowshoers can choose from trails that range from the beginner tracks to advanced backcountry routes.
  • Full child-care services for kids ages 18 months to 12 years are available, as are indoor and on-the-hill day programs, multi-week programs and holiday camps.
  • The resort's village accommodates 3,800 people and borders Strathcona Provincial Park. Lodging choices include condos and chalets.
