Sun Peaks Resort Snowboarding

Snowboarding at Sun Peaks Resort
Big Air, Adam Stein photo

Three separate mountains make up Sun Peaks Resort, providing powder-seekers the second-largest ski area in BC. With an average of 2,000 hours of sunshine and an annual snowfall of close to 6 metres (20 feet), it’s no wonder the resort was awarded “#1 Resort in Western Canada for Best Weather” by Ski Canada magazine in 2007.

Sun Peaks is well known both locally and internationally as a family-friendly resort. A past winner of Ski Canada magazines “Best Family Ski Resorts,” in 2008 the mountain was awarded “Best Family Resort in North America” by the London-based Cadogan Guides.

Snowboard on Three Mountains at Sun Peaks

The three mountains that make up Sun Peaks Resort offer over  hectares 1,457 hectares (3,600 acres) of terrain, reliably sunny weather, and famous easy-to-carve Okanagan powder. Tod Mountain is the region's highest access point at 2,080 m (6,824 ft) and offers wide-open bowls, steep chutes and gladed terrain. Sundance has well groomed runs and three terrain parks, while Mount Morrisey offers a combination of groomed runs and powder glades.

Snowboarders at Sun Peaks will enjoy the long fall lines, glades, and powdered chutes.  The expanded terrain parks include a half-pipe, a boardercross course, and an assortment of rails, jumps and boxes.

For a quick hit of the best trails, take the “Three Mountain Tour,” which covers nearly 27 kilometres (17 miles) and 2,735 vertical metres (8,975 feet), highlighting the favourite runs on all three peaks.
