Downhill skiers and snowboarders will find awesome powder conditions at the Powder King ski hill located 65 km (40 mi) east of Mackenzie.
With 12.5 m of snow (41 ft) annually, SKI Canada magazine awarded Powder King Mountain Resort with the title of "Best Powder in Canada" in 2000. The views of Rocky Mountain's Murray Range and into the Pine Pass Valley from the hill are spectacular.

A 45-minute drive from the ski hill, Mackenzie makes a great home base for visitors coming from the west. Ski and Stay packages are available throughout the ski season with discounted room and ski lift ticket prices for visitors who elect to stay overnight in Mackenzie.
Beginner skiers staying in Mackenzie can also practice at the Little Mac's beginner ski hill, located in Mackenzie. The longest run is 210 m (689 ft), with a vertical elevation change of 90 m (295 ft).

Facilities at the hill include a
chalet with a bar, cafeteria, and rental room, as well as a 60-room
hostel style lodging for overnight stays. Day pass prices (2008-2009)
are about $28 for children aged 6-12 to $45 for adults. Powder King has
one triple chair lift to the main runs, with a T-Bar to the top,
extending the runs. There are 24 runs at Powder King, with 33% perfect
for beginners, 37% for intermediates and 30% for advanced skiers. While
there are fewer runs than larger ski resorts, the wait times at the
lift are brief.
