Kimberley Alpine Resort is an outstanding ski destination, particularly for families.
Located in the Purcell Mountains (just west of the Canadian Rockies), the resort is in a beautiful alpine setting and is only minutes away from the historic town of Kimberley. This is also one of BC’s sunniest resorts, which means lots of bluebird days on the mountain.
Terrain, Tree Skiing and Night Skiing
The resort offers terrain for skiers of all abilities. On the front side of the mountain, the North Star Express Quad leads to groomed trails for beginners and intermediates – perfect for smooth cruising. On the back side, Easter Bowl features steeps, powder stashes and long fall lines for advanced skiers.
Kimberley recently expanded its tree skiing areas on the front side of the mountain. The newly gladed terrain features 7 metre spacing and opens up hundreds more acres for tree skiing enthusiasts to explore.
When twilight falls, head for the Main run. At 2.4 km (1 mi) in length, it’s one of North America’s longest lit runs for night skiing.
Getting to Kimberley
Kimberley Alpine Resort is the closest ski resort to the Canadian Rockies International Airport (approximately 20 minutes driving time). This airport offers daily flights to and from Vancouver and Calgary, as well as air service to and from Salt Lake City, UT (a major air transport hub).
Practical Points
Rental equipment is available at the resort and includes skis (mid or high performance, and cross-country), boots and poles.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons are available through the Winter Sports School. Free daily mountain tours are also available.
In addition to skiing, the resort offers snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding and more.
