Apex Mountain Resort Skiing (Downhill)

Skiers
Skiers, Don Weixl photo

Located in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Apex Mountain Resort gets an ideal combination of plentiful precipitation and low humidity, resulting in light, champagne powder.

Apex Has Skiing for All Skill Levels

Among the major draws at Apex are its short line-ups, uncrowded runs and friendly feel. There is a wide variety of terrain, from smooth cruisers to steep chutes, and skiers of any skill level will find their perfect run.

FIS World Cup Events at Apex

Apex hosted the FIS (International Ski Federation) World Cup in 2006 and again in 2007, and as a result the resort offers a World Cup aerial site and mogul course. Apex has also been recognized as a National Training Centre for the Canadian aerials team and the Canadian moguls team.

Practical Points

A variety of affordable accommodation is available on the mountain and in nearby Penticton (30 minutes by car). The majority of on-mountain accommodation boasts ski-in/ski-out access.

Equipment rentals are available in the village, including skis (regular and high performance), boots and poles.

Lessons are offered for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers, and kids can learn to ski or hone their skills at Rippin’ Rascals Corner, which also offers childminding. Free daily mountain tours are available.

In addition to downhill skiing, the resort offers snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, a 1-km (0.6-mi) skating loop, a tube park, an NHL-sized outdoor hockey rink and a 12-m (40-ft) ice climbing wall. Cross-country skiing is available close by at the Nickel Plate Nordic Centre.
