Lillooet offers plenty of mixed vertical ice terrain for ice climbers seeking one-day excursions. In fact, Lillooet has some of the most incredible frozen waterfalls and glacier climbs in British Columbia.
Joffre Glacier Group
The Joffre Glacier Group, easily accessible, is one of the more popular places for both beginner and advanced climbers alike. Mount Matier and Mount Joffre are highlights. Access to the Joffre Glacier Group is gained through Joffre Lakes Provincial Park located on the Duffy Lake Road between Lillooet and Whistler.
Marble Canyon Provincial Park
Marble Canyon Provincial Park, located 35km/22mi northeast of Lillooet on Highway 99, is also easily accessible and features a labyrinth of canyons leading off the main canyon.
More Ice Climbing
More ice climbing adventures are found along D'Arcy-Anderson Lake Road. The road stretches 33km/21mi along the west side of Anderson Lake from the village of Seton Portage on the north end of the lake. Climbing adventures are also found on the Duffy Lake Road to Whistler.

- For beginner ice climbers, or those wishing to perfect their skill, Canada West Mountain School offers lessons. ACMG certified guides help climbers work on technique on one-day climbs such as Synchronicity, Icy BC, and The Plum.
- There is always a risk of falling into a crevasse or setting off an avalanche when venturing out on glaciers and snowfields. It is advisable to take safety equipment, as well as maps, and GPS. Let someone know the location and duration of the climb and travel in teams.
- Winter camping is not recommended due to avalanche danger.
