Those interested in cross-country skiing should make tracks to Mount Washington, Vancouver Island's largest snow-activities resort is home to 55km/33mi of groomed trails, plus myriad backcountry skiing opportunities in Strathcona Provincial Park, located next door to the mountain. The trail system, with its track set and skating trails, is regarded as the best in the Pacific Northwest.

Mount Washington Alpine Resort
An acclaimed cross-country ski destination on Vancouver Island, Mount Washingto Alpine Resort offers skiers an impressive 55km/33mi of groomed trails. This system is partially located within spectacular Strathcona Provincial Park, next door to the resort. Some loops are lift- accessed, giving skiers a mesmerizing glimpse of the 360º-degree ocean-valley-mountains-glacier view from the mile-high summit. Mount Washington is an Official Training Site for XC Canada, thanks to wonderfully varied terrain and an extremely long season. Lesson and rentals are available at the resort. The Raven Lodge is a world class Nordic facility that offers full-service rentals, sales, lessons and when visitors are done skiing, they can relax by the fireplace or have a sauna.
Mount Washington is located on Vancouver Island, a 20-minute drive west of Courtenay and Comox, as well as just over an hour's drive north of Nanaimo.
