Cross-country skiing is a major winter sport in the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains region. Manning Park is one of southwestern BC's premier cross-country skiing destinations, with an extensive network of both groomed and backcountry trails. World-renowned Whistler Blackcomb - site of most of the alpine and Nordic venues for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games - offers trails for skiers of all abilities.

Manning Park

Manning Park is located in the heart of the Cascade Mountain Range. This is one of southwestern BC's premier cross-country skiing destinations, thanks to fresh mountain air and pristine surroundings. Manning has an extensive network of trails, with over 30 km (19 mi) groomed for classic and skate skiing. The resort also offers over 190 km (118 mi) of backcountry trails, and two warming huts. There are trails appropriate for all levels of skiers. Accommodations are available at Manning Park Resort, a shuttle ride away.

Manning Park is located between Hope and Princeton, a three-hour drive east from Vancouver.

Whistler Blackcomb

World-renowned Whistler Blackcomb is one of the top ski resorts in North America. Cross-country skiing trails are easily accessed from the resort. In fact, just a five-minute walk from Whistler Village is Lost Lake Park, which offers over 32 km (20 mi) of forested, track-set trails, many of which lead to views of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Lost Lake trails have gentle slopes for beginners as well as challenging runs for advanced skiers. The 4 km (2.5 mi) trail around the small alpine lake itself is lit for night skiing. Head to the Cross Country Connection for trail passes, rentals and lessons.

Whistler Blackcomb is a 2-hour drive along the Sea to Sky Highway (Highway 99) from Vancouver.
