While downhill skiers and snowboarders are provided some of the best terrain and finest ski facilities at Sun Peaks, the resort also caters to the needs of cross-country skiers. Approximately 40km/24mi of groomed and track set trails, plus several ungroomed backcountry loops through the wilderness await skiers of all of experience levels. Routes are accessible from trailheads located at the Morrisey Platter, at the base of the Morrisey Express chairlift, and Parking Lot 5.
Sun Peaks TrailsCross-country ski trails are clearly marked beginner, intermediate, or advanced. One of the more popular beginner trails is McGillivary Lake Trail, which can be accessed from the eastern end of the village. Although there is some uphill involved, the slope is gentle and does not cause problems on the return trip down. At the end of the trail, McGillivary Lake, is a warming hut.
