It was actually the sport's first destination: cat-skiing was pioneered in the province's Kootenay Rockies over 25 years ago.
No matter the region, you're in for some mind-blowing skiing/boarding. Expect to ski or ride 3,048 to 5,486 of total vertical metres (10,000-18,000 vertical ft) per day, which translates to between 6 and 15 runs. The longest runs range from 762 to 914 m (2,500 to 3,000 ft). Operators offer a variety of packages that vary from single- to multi-day packages.
Accommodations run the gamut from high-end luxury lodgings to more budget-conscious room-and-board options. Most operators expect their clients, at minimum, to be strong, intermediate skiers and boarders, although some offer lessons on gentler terrain for those with less experience. Age restrictions also apply.
