Divers in Parksville
Divers in Parksville, Susan Rybar photo
Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine ranked BC's coastal waters as the top diving destination in the world in 2005 for wall diving, small animals and healthiest marine mammals—so dive in!

You'll find the world's largest species of octopus, the intriguing wolf eel and enormous six-gilled sharks, to name a few of many. Explore sunken shipwrecks and even meet a mermaid!

Dive resorts and live-aboard dive boats offer packages that include boat charters, guides and dive gear.

Practical Points & Safety:

  • Go with a guide as riptides, currents, boats and extremely cold water present many hazards.
  • Wear a drysuit or thick wetsuit with hood, gloves and booties—BC's waters are cold.
  • Book a winter dive—BC waters are clearest at 30 m (100 ft) between October and March.
