Chase offers easy access to white water rafting adventure on the Adams River, 26km/16mi from town. Prepare to get wet, paddle hard and scream a lot shooting the class I, II and III white water, rated moderate on the international scale of I to VI.

When to go River Rafting

Time a trip according to thrill tolerance with normal flows in May, July and August, and lower flow in late summer and autumn. For the maximum adrenaline rush shoot the rapids at the height of the snowmelt runoff in June.

The full length of the Adams River, which runs between Adams Lake and Shuswap Lake, lies within Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park. The water is clear and the shoreline is clean.

Adams River Gorge

The rafting area is 10km/6mi long and includes a wild ride through the Adams River Gorge. There are also slack places between the rapids to get off the raft for a swim or pull in to shore for a break.

Guided Rides

Experienced rafters and white water kayakers can tackle the Adams on their own, but for most people the best choice is a guided ride with Adams River Rafting. Its government certified guides have been running the river since 1983. They provide life jackets and helmets, safety training, paddling instruction and an interpretive stop during the two-and-a-half hour round trip.

Details and brochures are available at the Chase Visitor Centre, 400 Shuswap Ave.
