The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast has thousands of lakes, many of which feature stretches of sandy beach. Some also have designated swimming areas. Bring your bathing suit and take the plunge into two of the area's most popular waters: Green Lake and Ten Mile Lake. The best time for sunning and swimming at all these beaches is in July and August.

Green Lake and Ten Mile Lake
Green and Ten Mile Lakes attract many swimmers to their shores. Green Lake, in the southern Cariboo region, stretches 17km (10.5 miles), following an irregular shoreline of some 83km (52 miles). The lake offers excellent sand-pebble beaches and shallow, warm waters. The park's day-use and three campground areas all have roped-off swimming zones. Green Lake is located in Green Lake Provincial Park, a 35-minute drive south from
100 Mile House, off Highway 97.
Three sandy beaches make Ten Mile Lake a popular spot for local residents and tourists. You can swim, enjoy the large picnic area, cast off from the boat launch or try your hand at fishing. The park's two campgrounds offer treed campsites with showers and flush toilets.
Ten Mile Lake is located in Ten Mile Lake Provincial Park, a 15-minute drive north from
Quesnel, on Highway 97.
