Panorama Mountain Village is best known for its deep-powder downhill skiing and snowboarding. However, the village's snow conditions and varied terrain are also ideal for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. As well, heli-skiing operators extend skiing and snowboarding opportunities well beyond the confines of the village. While summer is a little quieter, the area offers excellent hiking, mountain biking, and golfing. Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding Enjoy Panorama Mountain Village's 1220m/4000ft of vertical and expansive downhill skiing and snowboarding terrain. Night-skiing is available from late-December until the end of the season. Cross-country ski at the Greywolf Nordic Centre, or take the kids on a guided snowshoe tour through the forests west of the village. Cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals are found at the resort. More Winter Activities Venture out on a horse-drawn sleigh ride along forested trails. The ride is followed by a chili cookout and marshmallow roast at the Trapper's Cabin. Travel remote backcountry trails by guided dog-sled. Learn how to manage the team with a hands-on mushing experience. Guided tour packages vary from a couple of hours to half- or full-days. Toby Creek Adventures offers half and full-day snowmobile packages. On Wednesday, take the Panorama Bus to nearby Golden to enjoy a full day on the slopes of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. The same Shuttle Bus travels to Radium Hot Springs one day a week, and Invermere six days a week. Panorama puts on a spectacular New Years bash, complete with on-snow activities, feasting, and fireworks. In late-March, the Showoff Freestyle Weekend sees Big Air, Rail Jam, and Slopestyle action to Panorama. The resort has recently returned to hosting FIS sanctioned ski-racing. Summer Activities On a hot day, stop for a swim at Lake Lillian, located between Panorama Mountain Village and Invermere. The views of the Rocky Mountains are spectacular and the water is lovely. Try whitewater rafting with Kootenay River Runners on the upper sections of Toby Creek. Spend a challenging day at Greywolf Golf Course. Check out the lift-assisted mountain bike park at Panorama. From the Mile One Quad, a total of 20 trails weave down the mountain. While beginners will find easy confidence-building terrain, the park also has lots of expert terrain complete with constructed stunts.
