How to get to Steveston from Vancouver:There are a number of tour companies that offer convenient shuttle service throughout the day from various downtown Vancouver locations (including hotels) to Steveston.
Pick-up times are coordinated with whale-watching tour departure times. Check with your hotel or tour operator for more information.
Steveston Village by car: it’s a 35-60 minute drive (depending on time of day) from downtown Vancouver via Highway 99.
Steveston Village by bus: #490, #491 and #496 travel between downtown Vancouver’s Burrard Skytrain Station and the heart of Steveston.
A few tips to remember while on your tour or excursion:• Do not disturb the whales and other wildlife from the tour boat or kayak • Approximate time required for each tour: 3-5 hours • Dress appropriately for the event: pants/shorts, t-shirt/light sweatshirt, sandals/soft-soled shoes (warmer days); pants, fleece/sweater, soft-soled shoes, gloves and toque (cooler days) • Bring a camera with a good zoom lens, but be aware that on Zodiac boats you may get splashed.
