Tumbler Ridge is home to many spectacular waterfalls, including Kinuseo Falls – 65m/215ft higher than Niagara Falls. Most falls are easily accessible by hiking trails that provide amazing wildlife viewing and bird watching along the way. In addition to Bergeron Falls, Tepee Falls, Flatbed Falls, and Quality Falls, it is worth checking out Quality Canyon and Quality Mouth Trails, and Barbour Falls and Nesbitt's Knee Falls Trails.
Kinuseo Falls
Feel the power of Kinuseo Falls, which at 65m/215ft is actually higher than Niagara Falls. Driving access to the falls is via a gravel road. The falls, located along the Murray River, has a lookout point from above and below. Take a short but extremely strenuous hike down a steep rugged trail to see the falls from the base. Daily jet boat tours (minimum four-person booking) are offered to the base of the falls from the bridge at the Murray River near Tumbler Ridge.
Bergeron Falls
Hike through the aspen and pine forest along a gently climbing trail with just a few steep sections to Bergeron Falls. The trailhead is 5km/3.1mi north of Tumber Ridge on Highway 29, and is marked by a highway hiker sign. Bergeron falls is tall (100m/328.1ft high) and narrow, and set within an impressive circular sandstone cliff. The view is beautiful from the top of the cliff.
Tepee Falls
Enjoy a day with the family hunting for Tepee Falls, just a short hike through the forest. Tepee Falls is a playful falls, smaller than Kinuseo and Bergeron, and with great views of the Murray River valley.
Flatbed Falls
Take a quick trip along a fairly well developed trail with a couple of steep sections to Flatbed Falls. Flatbed Falls is the closest falls to Tumbler Ridge. While Flatbed Falls are just 4m/13.1ft high, there is a beautiful pool at the bottom great for a mid-summer dip on a hot day. Be cautious as there is no lifeguard present, avoid diving and high waters.
Quality Falls
Gaze at a cascading falls not far from Tumbler Ridge. The hike into Quality Falls is easy, across two bridges and down a set of stairs. Along the way there are opportunities to see or hear songbirds such as Hermit and Swainson's Thrushes.
