Hiking in Kootenay National Park
Marlene Ford photo
The world-famous parks, abundant wildlife and snow-capped peaks of the Kootenay Rockies extend almost as far as your imagination.

Surrounding you are mountains rising 3,000 m (9,843 ft), some of Canada's highest waterfalls, long stretches of pebble and sandy beaches, roaring rivers as well as alpine meadows carpeted with wildflowers. Wander through dense forest, past sparkling creeks, along the shores of gem-coloured lakes teeming with fish. Slip into one of the region's many hot springs or hike alongside old-growth forest and rugged inland lakes.
