GRIZFEST
Music lovers will enjoy a variety of music and festivities at GRIZFEST, held annually in August. The venue is conveniently located in Tumbler Ridge near the community centre and the high school, within walking distance of the Lions Flatbed Campground and Monkman RV Park. Have fun with the family at the children's play area. Participate in the horseshoe competition, relax at the beer gardens, or volunteer at the different venues. Rain or shine, the atmosphere is charged with excitement. It is a good idea to have warm cloths and raingear in case of sudden weather changes.
Emperor's Challenge
Compete in the half marathon Tumbler Ridge's Emperor's Challenge. This unusual course is touted as one of the world's most challenging and beautiful half marathons. Traditionally held on Roman Mountain, in 2009 the Emperor's Challenge is moving to a new location at Babcock Mountain. The new course inclines 609.6m/2000ft, less than the old course, but is a steadier elevation gain providing a more even run. Walk or run the route, which leads into a steep mountain climb into a higher elevation alpine area with stunning mountain views and tarns.

Find excitement in a variety of other events offered throughout the year including the Grizzly Valley Saddle Club Annual Poker Ride and Gymkhana, celebrating its 25th Anniversary in June 2009. The celebrations will include a pancake breakfast, a family dance, trick riders, and more. The Tumbler Ridge Golf & Country Club hosts an annual Men's & Ladies Open Golf Tournament. Also sporting tournaments and competitions are held throughout the year. Winter competitions include the Wolverine Challenge Sled Dog Race in March, with two-, four-, and six-dog teams, as well as curling bonspiels and other winter sports.
