Sports are an important part of day-to-day life in Victoria. While the locals have a particular passion for golf and water sports, thanks to a mild climate all manner of sports are played here year-round. This climate is one reason professional athletes from around the world train in Victoria, which also boasts first-class coaching and facilities.

A word or two on your excursion:

  • Tickets are generally available through a ticketing agent or at each venue's box office

Victoria Grizzlies

Victoria's hometown hockey heroes are the Victoria Grizzlies, who play in the BC Hockey League, a division of the Canadian Junior "A" Hockey League. Because they're such a competitive team, NCAA scouts routinely make their way through Victoria and many fans follow them to every game.

Their home arena is the Bear Mountain Arena, and the season for Junior "A" runs September until March.

    Victoria Shamrocks

The Victoria Shamrocks are Victoria's local lacrosse heroes. A member of the non-professional Western Lacrosse Association, the team competes with five others throughout the province. Known as "the fastest sport on two feet," lacrosse is one of Canada's national sports. It originated from an Aboriginal war game and takes a tremendous amount of physical stamina to play.

Their home arena is the Bear Mountain Arena, and the season runs May until July.
