Canadians love their hockey, and Vancouverites are particularly passionate about the Canucks, the city's National Hockey League team. Part of the Western Hockey League, the Vancouver Giants boasts a line-up of talented junior players destined to be tomorrow's NHL stars. The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club offers inexpensive, quality entertainment for baseball fans of all ages. A Single-A team and Northwest League affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, the Canadians play 38 home games in a season. The Vancouver Whitecaps, the city's professional soccer club, fields both a men's and a women's team. The Whitecaps' 1979 win of the NASL Soccer Bowl Championship is credited with launching the city's proud soccer history.
