Historical treasures and natural wonders.

Fort Steele Heritage Town
The attractions are naturally wonderful in the Kootenay Rockies. Walk in the footsteps of pioneers in beautifully restored heritage towns and period villages as well as abandoned frontier and ghost towns.

Gaze at man-made structures built to tame fast-flowing rivers. Discover the sweeping journeys of First Nations inhabitants, who gave the "Kootenay" region its name and who continue to enrich the area with their presence and knowledge. Explore the rugged landscapes of four national parks. You may even encounter the fossilized creatures who left their trace on this region some 505 million years ago!
