Kimberley offers stunning scenery, including mountain vistas and garden views. There are beautiful local parks and gardens just a stroll away, with easy access from the downtown pedestrian Platzl.
Cominco Gardens
Cominco Gardens was originally developed in 1927, named after the local mining company, and is still a popular attraction today with thousands of colourful, blooming flowers. The best time to visit this tranquil setting is June, July and August. The gardens are located just minutes from the downtown, off of 4th Avenue.
Marysville Falls
Marysville Falls is a ten-minute drive south of the Platzl. The entrance to the falls is on Highway 93A at Marysville (south Kimberley). A short, ten-minute walk borders Mark Creek and leads to a viewpoint of the spectacular 30m/100ft waterfall.From the Platzl, take the Mark Creek Trail to Marysville Falls (via the Lions/Rotary Trail). This is an easy and enjoyable walk along a well-marked scenic route.
Eco Park and Kimberley Nature Park
Eco Park is a small spot located along the banks of Mark Creek at the entrance to the Marysville Falls. This park was created as a watershed restoration project to return westslope cutthroat trout to Mark Creek. Interpretive signs and large, metal, cutthroat trout sculptures are on display.
Kimberley Nature Park is one of Canada's largest municipal parks and has myriad trails for biking, hiking and other use. Park entrances can be accessed at the Kimberley Nordic Ski Area, Swan Avenue, Higgins Street and Jimmy Russell Road.
The trails were created from decommissioned logging and mining exploration roads and rise from an elevation of 975m/3,200ft to 1600m/5,249ft. Trail difficulty varies and a very basic Trail Guide can be purchased at the Visitor Centre.
Nina's Hillside Garden
Combine lunch and flowers at Nina's Hillside Garden. Nina's is a charming chalet built on a steep hillside. Picturesque gardens, fountains and a handcrafted detailed miniature village surround the property. Located at 440 Spokane Street, Nina's is open in the summer and serve lunches and teas/coffee.
