Further south on the island, experienced climbers will want to tackle the limestone face at Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park.

Strathcona Provincial Park


Accessed from Campbell River, Canada's oldest provincial park draws climbers from all over the world. You'll find maps of the area in the parking lot, with descriptions of the many and varied climbing routes.
  • Crest Creek Craggs boasts more than 100 climbs from 9-30 m (30-100 ft) over 19 rock faces rated 5.8-5.13.
  • Highlights: Tackle over a dozen bolted routes between Sluice Wall and Joint Wall.

Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park

Discover these caves just north of Qualicum Beach. Ascend Horne Lake Ampitheatre, a challenging 5.14 limestone face - among the toughest of its kind in Canada; for experienced climbers only.
