Kamloops' rugged canyons, logging roads, sliders, ramps, and kilometres/miles of maintained riding trails provide ample terrain for all levels of mountain-biking experience. Beginner-to-intermediate trails are found at the Paul Lake Circuit and Stake Lake, while Kamloops Bike Ranch and Sun Peaks Resort provide more of a challenge. Kamloops also plays host to some of the top-mountain biking races in Canada, including the Intermontane Challenge, a five-day staged mountain-bike race covering 450km/280mi.
Kamloops Bike Ranch Kamloops Bike Ranch is the most technically advanced municipal bike park in Canada attracting expert riders from around the world to its 26ha/64ac of gullies, silt bluffs of pine trees, sagebrush, open grasslands, and elevation changes of 132m/432ft. The 450km/280mi race is held over five days and race trails are available for general use by the public after the event. One of the premier riding areas for the Intermontane Challenge, Kenna Cartwright Nature Park, features an extensive series of trails (also used for hiking) suited to all ability levels through semi-arid and treed terrain, with lots of ups and downs. Take the Trans Canada Highway to Exit #366 north along Copperhead Drive and then west along Hillside Drive to the main entrance. Sun Peaks Resort Sun Peaks Resort has an ever expanding network of 37 trails totaling 70km/42mi in length, many of which are accessible by chair-lift. Some trails include balance obstacles, bridges, and stunts. Sun Peaks Resort has hosted some of the top mountain-biking race events in Canada.
