Mount Seven

The original site of the "Psychosis", the world's most demented downhill bike race, Mount 7 has a vertical drop of over 1200m/4000ft, and a race record of under 13 minutes. Ouch! This mountain is all about singletrack, with nine of the 15 trails designated advanced or expert. It's possible to drive all the way up the mountain on the Mt 7 FSR (Forest Service Road) and then just hit the downhill...

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort

As soon as the snow is gone, the Golden Eagle Express gondola at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort starts carrying a different kind of cargo. It's just 12 minutes from the Day Lodge to the 2347m/7700ft level at the ridge. From there it's well, downhill all the way. However it's not all twisty singletrack and technical. Among the 27 trails on the mountain, there are cross-country rides and some easier, family-oriented routes down the mountain. On Wednesday evenings in the summer, the last gondola leaves the bottom of the hill at a fashionably late 8.30pm.

Moonraker Trails

Mountain Biking on Canyon Creek Trail at Moonraker - Miro Micovsky On the lower slopes of the Dogtooth Range, south of town, the Moonraker trails are a mix of old roads and singletrack trails. Novice and intermediate riders will appreciate the terrain, which includes lateral traverses, with a few small lakes along the way. Access to the upper portion of the trails is via the Kicking Horse Trail Road, while the lower areas can be reached via Nicholson and Sander Lake.

Mountain Bike Rentals

Mountain bike rentals are available from Selkirk Source for Sports at both their downtown location on 9th Ave N and their location at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
