The towering playground is also one of the island’s top spots for mountain biking. Riders enjoy access to 16 classic runs over 35 km (22 mi) of varied terrain and 502 m (1,650 ft) of sheer, exhilarating vertical.
The active headquarters for much other spring-to-fall activity, Mount Washington offers guided horseback trail riding, fly-fishing trips and camping. While some restaurants and accommodations in the resort’s pedestrian village are open year-round, most outdoor enthusiasts make day trips to the mountain.
- Camping: Free group camping near Raven Lodge is offered at the resort. Campers enjoy access during business hours to lodge facilities such as washrooms, showers and coin laundry. Many of the nearby parks offer both vehicle-accessible and wilderness campsites.
- Horseback Riding: The resort offers Western-style trail riding with professional wranglers for all levels of riders.
- Fly-Fishing: Mount Washington is in prime fly-fishing country. The resort offers full-, half- and two-hour guided fly-fishing trips, all of which include gear, tackle and instruction.
- Photography: Mount Washington Resort offers nature-photography workshops that take place on the mountain with professional photographers and instructors.
- Mini-golf, disc-golf and bungee trampolining are also at the mountain.
