Silver Star Mountain Resort is an ideal place to head for hiking. There are many scenic trails for hikers of all abilities starting both in the village and from the top of the chairlift. Wildlife abound in the area during the summer months: look for Black Bears, lynx, short-tailed weasel ermine, deer and hawks. Trails are awash in vegetation, which includes fireweed, heartleaf arnica and yarrow.
One hike worth the 2.5-km (1.6-mi) trek is Silver Queen Trail (Intermediate). Accessed from Paradise Trail, Silver Queen leads to the top of the mountain for panoramic views of the Okanagan Valley and Monashee mountains. Mid to late summer, this trail opens to some spectacular wildflower meadows.

Learn about the area’s black bears and the food they love –particularly berries– on this adventurous, 1.5 hour hike.
Mountain Birding
Take a 1.5 hour, pre-breakfast birding tour to view sub-alpine birds that include white-crowned sparrows, mountain chickadees, cross-bills, whiskey-jacks, Stellar jays, ravens and more.
