Golfing in Surrey is all about choices. From high-end private golf courses to well-maintained public greens, from a wide variety of driving ranges to fully stocked golf pro shops, Surrey offers one option after another for teeing off in beautiful, park-like settings.

In total, this sports-oriented community has seven major golf courses. Two of the best-known courses are Northview Golf & Country Club and Morgan Creek Golf Course.

Golf Like the Pros

Northview Golf & Country Club (6857-168 St) is a must-visit for fans of the PGA Tour, as the Air Canada Championship was played here in Surrey between 1996 to 2002. Northview is home to two courses designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer.

It was on Northview's Ridge Course in 1999 that Canadian, Mike Weir won his first PGA tour title. Tackle the challenge of this 6,900-yard, par-72 course with numerous water features, or try the 7,100-yard, par-72 Canal Course with its broad fairways and serene ambience. Proper golf attire is required, and the Palmer Room offers fine dining.

Morgan Creek Golf Course (3500 Morgan Creek Way) was designed by the award-winning Thomas McBroom, and has great views of Vancouver's North Shore Mountains. The 18-hole course, which has been ranked among Canada's top 50 golf courses by SCORE Golf magazine, is open year-round. A team of experienced golf pros offers lessons, and the clubhouse is a popular venue for weddings and banquets.

Affordable Golfing in Surrey

The Vancouver Sun newspaper described the Surrey Golf Club (7700-168 St) as "one of the best bargains" in Metro Vancouver. Choose between the 18-hole, championship Main Course or the nine-hole Willows Nine Course, and take advantage of early bird and twilight specials.

Peace Portal Golf Course (16900 4 Ave) celebrated its 80th anniversary next to the US border in South Surrey in 2008. Elegant landscaping amid fir trees, putting and chipping greens, and a coffee shop and lounge are among the course's notable features.

Golf Pro Shops

Stock up on gear at Surrey's golf pro shops, such as Fraser Golf Centre (17015 Fraser Hwy) and Riverside Golf Centre (3590 King George Hwy), and improve that golf swing at the on-site driving ranges.
