Smithers is flanked by two golf courses less than a 10-minute drive apart. Both offer great views of Hudson Bay Mountain, nature trails and a chance to see small wildlife; critters such as foxes, muskrats and geese regularly walk the courses along with players.
Smithers Golf & Country Club
The Smithers Golf & Country Club, 18-hole championship golf course, is on the west side of town at the base of Hudson Bay Mountain. The club is equipped with a driving range, pro shop that offers rentals and lessons, and clubhouse with a wraparound deck that faces the mountain. The course is rated as par 72 and is a total of 6539 playing yards.
The Smithers Golf & Country Club cost for adults is $39 for 18 holes and $27 for nine. The price is less for under 19-year-olds and seniors. The course also offers a twilight rate. Non-members should book at least a day in advance. RV parking is also available.
Riverside Golf & R.V. Park
The Riverside Golf & R.V. Park is on the east side of Smithers and borders almost a kilometer of the Bulkley River. As its name suggests, the 2,200-yard course is part of 46-site RV park. Each hole on the course is only three-par, making this a great place for beginner golfers to try their luck and experienced ones to practice their short swing. Similar to its counterpart, the park is equipped with a clubhouse, pro shop and driving range. The RV park is in the centre of the course. It's also possible to fish in the Bulkley River right on the course.
The Riverside Golf & R.V. Park cost for adults is $14 for 18 holes during the week and $18 on weekends and holidays. Nine holes cost $12 during the week and $16 on the weekend. Children aged 15 and under cost less.
