Qualicum Beach Golf

Apart from a few unpredictable snowfalls in December and January, golfers can tee it up 365 days a year in Qualicum Beach. The town has its own historic nine-hole course near the ocean as well as three more 18-hole layouts are within a short drive. Brochures on all the courses are available at the Visitor Centre. Qualicum's four courses are:

Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club

The Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club is located at 115 Crescent Rd. West. The fourth-oldest course in British Columbia is also one of the province's most scenic thanks to its oceanside setting across from the town's namesake beach. The course was built in conjunction with Qualicum Beach's first luxury hotel in 1913. In the early days, golfers were forced to shoot around the sheep, cows and deer that roamed the fairways. Today the course is known for its tight fairways and tricky greens. Summer green fees are about $25; call 250-752-6312.

Eaglecrest Golf Club

Eaglecrest is located at 2035 West Island Highway. This 6,000 yd/5486m 18-hole championship course is bounded by the Eaglecrest residential neighborhood at the eastern end of Qualicum Beach. Beware of two green monsters that devour hundreds of golf balls annually – the lakeside 14th and a par-4 17th that features a narrow, four-tiered green. Pheasant Glen Golf Resort

The Pheasant Glen sits at 1025 Qualicum Rd. Just five minutes south of town off Rupert Road, the resort has been carved from a 116ha/288ac forested meadow. The par-72 layout is a serious challenge for seasoned players. Novices and veterans alike benefit from the on-site Brent Morrison Golf Academy, which is staffed by five Canadian PGA teaching professionals. Summer fees start at about $65; call 250-752-8786.

Arrowsmith Golf & Country Club

Named for the local mountain, Arrowsmith is located at 2250 Fowler Rd. off Highway 19A, midway between Qualicum Bay and Bowser. Golfers on a tight schedule will appreciate a unique 18-hole, par-61 course that takes about 3.5 hours to complete. Arrowsmith is known for its excellent drainage system, which keeps the fairways and greens playable following heavy rains. Summer green fees are about $35; call 250-752-9727.

The layout of Morningstar Golf Course combines mesmerizing views that provide challenges & variety for golfers of all abilities.
