No less than six distinctive golf destinations are within easy reach of Cranbrook , and that doesn't include the additional courses in nearby Kimberley . Take instructions from golf pro Rob Anderson, try out a championship course or bring the family along for a round or two.Cranbrook Golf Club Built in 1951, Cranbrook Golf Club has thrilled and tested generations of golfers. This mature championship course is noted for its undulating fairways lined with magnificent Ponderosa pines, and for its challenging nature. Conveniently located within the city of Cranbrook, the course is accessed from 2nd Street South.Shadow Mountain The new kid on the block, Shadow Mountain Golf Course is just 10km/6mi north of Cranbrook off Highway 95A. According to Canadian golf pro Rob Anderson, each hole is designed to take best advantage of the topography, and "blends extremely well with nature". The course enjoys amazing views of the Rocky Mountains. St. Eugene Golf Course In 2001, Golf Digest magazine included St. Eugene in the top three Best New Canadian Golf Courses. The course, which was designed by Les Furber, is surrounded by forests and bordered to the north and west by the St. Mary's River. The last few holes play towards the stately St. Eugene Mission building, with the dramatic shape of Fisher Peak as a backdrop. The St. Eugene Resort is 10 minutes north of Cranbrook, off Hwy 95A.Mission Hills Mission Hills Golf Course is an executive par three course with a total of 21 holes in three different configurations. This family-friendly course has extensive practice facilities, and is accessed from Theatre Road at its intersection with Highway 95A. Way-Lyn Ranch Golf Course Located halfway between Cranbrook and Kimberley, Way-Lyn Ranch is an 18-hole executive course comprising par 3 and 4 holes, with some in excess of 250 yards. The layout is open and spacious, with stands of tall native grasses waiting to digest wayward golf balls. Will-O-Bend Golf and RV Park This executive par 4 public golf course has extensive water hazards, making for significant challenges on six of the nine holes. Will-O-Bend is located in Jaffray, 48km/30mi east of Cranbrook on Highway 3. For more information on courses, equipment and rentals – pop into the Cranbrook Visitor Centre .
