Castlegar has something for every golfer, with a mature championship 18-hole course, a new par-3 nine-hole course, and many more courses virtually at its doorstep.
Castlegar Golf Club
A 4-star rating from Golf Digest says a lot about the quality of golf at a course, but Castlegar Golf Club has also been recognized for offering outstanding value for visitors. Constructed in 1955, this par-72 championship course overlooks the confluence of the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers, and regularly hosts prestigious events, such as the BC Amateur Tournament. The clubhouse restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. New in 2009, the club opened a convenient 20-site RV park. Access is via Highway #3A. (Look for directional signs just north of the Castlegar Regional Airport.)
Little Bear Golf Resort
Although Little Bear Golf Resort has only nine greens, it creates the illusion of 18 holes by having 18 separate tee boxes. The course is well suited for beginners and attracts lots of families, but it also can challenge the most seasoned golfer. Certainly, it provides an opportunity to work on that pesky short game. Green fees are very affordable and food service is available at the clubhouse. Little Bear is located on the east side of the Columbia River, south of the airport on Waterloo Road.
