A unique way to experience the lay of the land around Vanderhoof is from high above on a flightseeing tour. Check out the rolling landscapes, massive ranch properties and hundreds of lakes, rivers, and creeks by helicopter, floatplane, or small airplane. Choose a destination, such as a wilderness fishing lodge, or simply soak up the views on a scenic flight. Flightseeing tours are best in summer, between June and August, when the weather is more likely to be clear.

Flightseeing Operators

Several companies offer aerial tours and charter services around Vanderhoof, but none have set destinations or tours. It's up to the passengers to decide. Guardian Aerospace's fleet ranges from small Cessnas to 8-passenger all weather Navajo Chieftains. The company is based out of Prince George and Vanderhoof, servicing Northern British Columbia and Alberta.

Yellowhead Helicopter Ltd has several bases throughout BC and neighbouring Alberta, one being in Vanderhoof. The business has several types of choppers, which carry 6 to 14 passengers. The third choice for flightseeing tours is Nechako Lodge & Aviation, located at Nechako Lodge, one of the wilderness lodges nearest Vanderhoof. The lodge has its own floatplane and offers roundabout air tours or destination trips focused on specific activities such as fishing or outfitting.

Check with the Vanderhoof Visitor Centre for more information about fligtseeing trips and operators.
