For camping enthusiasts, Tumbler Ridge is the perfect getaway area, with sculpted mountains, river valleys, and endless wildlife viewing opportunities. Camping is available at provincial parks campsites and at campgrounds just beyond Tumbler Ridge. An RV park is also located in town.

Monkman Provincial Park

Outdoor adventure and excitement await travelers to Monkman Provincial Park (32,000ha/79,073.7ac). Activities range from hiking, mountain biking, and caving to waterfalls and backcountry camping adventures. The park is located 60km/37.3mi south of Tumbler Ridge via the graveled, rough, Murray River Road. The main campsite has 42 tent sites, 20 of which are vehicle accessible, from early May to mid-November. Be aware that this remote site is very rustic, with pit toilets only.

Gwillim Lake Provincial Park

Take it easy while camping at sunny sites along Gwillim Lake and boating or fishing on this fairly large-sized lake.  Gwillim Lake Provincial Park campground is open from early May to the end of September each year. Amenities at this peaceful site include 49 vehicle-accessible campsites, a boat launch equipped for trailer drop-off, and a pump with drinking water. Consider a trip with the family to the adventure playground followed by a picnic.

Bearhole Lake Provincial Park

Bearhole Lake Provincial Park is a great fishing destination with a secluded campsite. Wildlife including moose and trumpeter swans are commonly spotted. However, swans are very sensitive during nesting season and should be left undisturbed. Four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles are required to access this park, located 25km/15.5mi east of Tumbler Ridge, and another 20km/12.4mi west on the rough gravel Kiskatinaw Forest Service Road.

Lions Flatbed Campground

Camp out at the Lions Flatbed Campground next to Flatbed Creek, just 1km/0.62mi from Tumbler Ridge. Relax in a rustic setting with the amenities of home including flush toilets, hot showers, a playground, picnic area, and free firewood.

Monkman RV Park

Monkman RV Park is located off of Monkman Way, directly in Tumbler Ridge and within walking distance of downtown. Facilities include drive through sites, RV hookups, showers, and laundry.

Check with the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre for more information on camping opportunities and Monkman RV Park.
