Campgrounds offer nature in all its glorious element in the Kootenay Rockies. Choose a site near Radium Hot Springs or venture down a remote path to a rustic, walk-in campsite. Pitch your tent close to civilization or camp high above it all at the Top of the World Provincial Park campground. Many of our campgrounds are accessible for families with young children. Easy hiking trails are often close by. Amenities vary - check individual campsites for features such as tent pads, cabins and other facilities. Glacier National Park Unwind amidst the towering cedars and hemlocks of the Illecillewaet and Loop Brook Campgrounds, set along the fast-flowing rivers of the Illecillewaet, Asulkan and Bonney Glaciers. These two highway-accessible campgrounds are located just a few kilometres west of Rogers Pass. Illecillewaet Campground has 60 sites 3 km (1.9 mi) west of the Rogers Pass summit. Visit the staff at the Illecillewaet Welcome Station for more information. Loop Brook Campground offers 20 sites 5 km (3.1 mi) west of the summit. You'll find a self-serve check-in station near the campground entrance. Both rustic campgrounds have flush-toilet washroom buildings, log kitchen shelters, food lockers, firewood and drinking water supplies. Glacier is located between Golden and Revelstoke along the Trans Canada Highway. > Glacier Park website Yoho National Park This park's campgrounds, on the western slopes of the Kootenay Rockies, are close by towering rock walls, magnificent waterfalls and some 28 peaks over 3,000 m (9,843 ft) high. Kicking Horse Campground, 3 km (1.8 mi) east of Field, offers 92 sites close to hiking trails and Takakkaw Falls Road. The 46 sites at Monarch Campground are set in an expansive meadow within walking distance from Kicking Horse Campground. Takakkaw Falls Campground, 17 km (10.6 mi) east of Field, features remarkable views from most of its 35 sites. There is a 500-m (1,640-ft) walk in from the parking lot, with carts provided for moving gear. Yoho borders Banff and Kootenay National Parks along the Trans Canada Highway. > Yoho Park website
Top of the World Provincial Park At an elevation of more than 2,200 m (7,218 ft), Top of the World is set on a plateau high in the Kootenay Rockies. The jagged peaks of the Hughes Range form a stunning vista to the west, while the Van Nostrand Range marks the highest point in the park. You'll find the campgrounds at Fish Lake. There is a 6.7 km (4.2 mi) walk in from the parking area (1.5-2 hours), with an elevation change of 212 m (696 ft). This is an easy hiking trail - manageable even for families with small children. A cabin accommodating 20-25 people and 16 tent pads are situated around the lake perimeter. Top of the World is approximately 45 minutes northeast from Kimberley. > Top of the World Park website
Kootenay National Park Parks Canada operates the four campgrounds in Kootenay Park, all available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Redstreak Campground is located on a sunny plateau 2.5 km (1.5 mi) above the community of Radium Hot Springs. The campground has 50 fully serviced and 154 unserviced sites. A 1.8-km (1.1-mi) trail connects the campground to restaurants and services in the community. Follow a 2.7-km (1.7-mi) trail to the hot springs pools. McLeod Meadows Campground is a tree-filled campground with 98 spacious sites along the Kootenay River, 27 km (16.7 mi) north of Radium Hot Springs. Dog Lake is a 2.6-km (1.6-mi) walk from the campground. Marble Canyon Campground has 61 high-altitude sites close to a self-guided interpretive trail along the deep gorge of Marble Canyon. The campground is 86 km (53.4 mi) north of Radium Hot Springs. Crook's Meadow Group Campground was originally the site of one of the oldest homesteads in Kootenay National Park. This campground offers group tenting for 30 tents and parking for some support vehicles. It can be found 34 km (21.1 mi) north of Radium Hot Springs.
