Live music, fresh cold Kokanee beer, and daily contests in the plaza to make you forget about all of your hard work. Fernie Alpine Resort says “Thank You” to local communities by offering a FREE day of skiing and riding to the residents of Fernie, Elko, Elkford, Jaffray, Sparwood and all residents living in the Elk Valley, as part of the annual Community Appreciation Day. Community members can also pick up a $2 BBQ voucher with proceeds from the BBQ going to charity. Please note: ID and proof of a local address (drivers licence, pay stub etc) will be required to acquire a complimentary lift ticket.

Enjoy holiday cheer as Fernie Alpine Resort welcomes Santa to the slopes. Come out and ski with Santa on the slopes of the Mighty Moose, Deer, and Elk Chairs from 10am-12pm. After, from 12pm-2pm, come down to the base area and get your picture taken with Santa. Don't worry about bringing a camera, Santa's helpers will take the photo and email it to you. Photos are FREE!

Come out and celebrate the new year with the entire family. Join us from 6pm-9pm for night skiing on the Mighty Moose (lift ticket required) and a variety of FREE family activities in the base area. Activities that night include a firepit complete with hot chocolate and arts & crafts. The night wraps up with a family New Years count down at 9pm. Activities are free of charge so bring the family out and ring in 2009 at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Skiers and snowboarders will slide in style at Fernie Alpine Resort's 7th annual Kinky Rail Jam. Open to both skiers and snowboarders, the annual rail competition will be set in a jam format so that each rider has a number of feature options. Competitors have a chance to win their share of a cash purse as well as great prizes. Overall talent and skill will help the judges choose their champions.

Not only a fun event but a great way to make use of your recycling. Participants create fun by using recycled cardboard to make unique sleds and then ride them downhill. This is not a race - there are no points for speed. Creativity and accuracy are key. Crafts will navigate the slope one at a time. The crafts can be simple or complex, with up to 4 pilots to maneuver down the hill. A good time is assured, so get your team together. Registration details to follow.

Watch as the 18 and under show how big of a mountain Fernie really is. Age categories will include 7-11 years, 12-15 years, and 16-18 years of age for both guys and gals. Competitors will warm up Saturday in the qualifying runs. Sunday to be finals and award ceremony. Helmets are mandatory.
