Vanderhoof
Vanderhoof (population: 4,064) lies on the banks of the Nechako River in the Nechako Valley, 100 km (60 mi) west of Prince George. This picturesque town is near the geographic centre of British Columbia. Vanderhoof is Dutch for “of the farm”, a fitting name as this was the first agricultural settlement in the province.
Vanderhoof has a proud history, with much of it on display at the Vanderhoof Heritage Museum. The museum features 11 heritage buildings from the 1920s, including the town’s first jail.
Outdoor enthusiasts can also explore some impressive hiking, mountain biking trails in the area.
