Tumbler Ridge
Tumbler Ridge (population: 2,454) lies 115 km (71 mi) southwest of Mile Zero of the Alaska Highway. Idyllically situated in the rolling foothills of the Rocky Mountains, amidst a wilderness of lakes, rivers and waterfalls, the town offers unlimited outdoor activities in one of the most beautiful and remote areas of the province. Visitors can view countless numbers of wildlife on any given day.
Dozens of magnificent waterfalls are within hiking distance from their respective trailheads. Tumbler Ridge is also the site of BC’s most significant dinosaur-fossil discoveries. Many of these have occurred in the past few years, including the famous dinosaur trackways (paths of dinosaur footprints). Tumbler Ridge has become one of BC’s most active small communities building an infrastructure for outdoor recreation.
