Terrace
Terrace (population: 11,320) is located in the Skeena River Valley on a series of natural flat benches, or terraces. The low-elevation valley is protected by the majestic Coast Mountains which, combined with its relative proximity to the ocean, creates a greenhouse effect. This phenomenon means that the community enjoys moderate temperatures and receives lower rainfall than its coastal neighbours. The beauty and variety of natural settings around Terrace naturally draw people out of doors. Residents take great pride in their active lifestyles and are eager to share their knowledge of local mountains, rivers, lakes and wildlife with visitors. The official emblem of Terrace is the white Kermode Bear, a rare sub-species of the Black Bear found only on BC's central and north coast.
