Rugged, peaceful Saturna Island (population: 359) is the least developed and most sparsely populated of the Gulf Islands. Nearly half of its land mass belongs to the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve and homes and farms are concentrated around East Point Road, which runs the length of the island between the ferry terminal and East Point. Activities on Saturna Island People may be scarce on Saturna but wildlife is wonderfully abundant: deer, feral goats, River Otters, and more than 180 bird species. Take in the countryside on a walk to Navarez Bay, or wander past the waterfall along Lyall Creek. Taylor Point and Winter Cove have day-use areas featuring walking trails, and Mount Warburton Pike provides a breathtaking view from its summit. The Saturna Vineyards and Winery and Thomson Park are located below the rock bluffs on the south side of the island, and splendid beaches for unsupervised swimming are found at Veruna Bay, East Point Regional Park, and Thomson Park. Explore the sculpted sandstone cliffs in East Point Regional Park and don't miss the picturesque 1880s light station. Getting There Saturna Island can be accessed via BC Ferries . Sail direct from Swartz Bay ( Victoria ) or stop over at another Gulf Island en route from Tsawwassen. The island is also accessible via private boat or float plane.
