Naramata
Nestled in the heart of the South Okanagan Valley, the small community of Naramata (population: 2000) is located on the east shore of Lake Okanagan. Take the short drive north of Penticton, along Naramata Road, to enter some of BC’s most famous wine country.
Benches to the north, orchards and vineyards to the south, surround the village, which boasts 15 world-class quality wineries.
Naramata has beautiful sandy beaches, is home to local artisans, cottage industries, horse stables, a heritage hotel, and rambling hiking trails.
Hike or bike the Kettle Valley Railway, part of the Spirit of 2010 Trail. The trail travels high above the town of Naramata, offering picture-perfect views of Okanagan Lake and the surrounding hillsides. Hike or cycle the old rail bed on your own or join a guided bicycle tour.
Both the Spring and Fall Okanagan Wine Festivals enrich the area’s natural splendour. Tours and tastings are available at many of the wineries.
