Gain unprecendented access to more than 217,000ha/536,219ac of pristine wilderness terrain and wildlife habitat at Mount Robson Provincial Park. The second largest provincial park in British Columbia, Mount Robson is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site (part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains World Heritage Site). It also marks the beginning of the Fraser River's 1375km/870mi journey to the Pacific Ocean. This iconic park is home to amazing wildlife such as Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Black Bears, Grizzly Bears and Mountain Goats. Its incredibly varied wilderness setting offers plenty of quintessential BC outdoor adventure opportunities, including fishing, caving, camping, and mountain hiking.

Hiking and Camping

Hiking trails are abundant in Mount Robson. Enthusiasts will find short jaunts along well-marked trails, longer treks on groomed mountain routes, and multi-day excursions into challenging backcountry terrain. Several trails are also suitable for horseback riding and mountain biking.

The park's trails are open for hiking earlier than most backpacking trails in the Rocky Mountains. Early-June to mid-October is prime hiking season as alpine meadows are in bloom and wildlife is abundant.

Camping

About two-thirds of Mount Robson Provincial Park's campsites are available on a first come/first served basis. Along Berg Trail, a popular hiking route, are campgrounds located at Kinney Lake, Whitehorn, Emperor Falls, Marmot, Berg Lake, Rearguard, and Robson Pass. RV parking is also available near that park at Robson Meadows and Robson River, off of Highway 16.

Valemount

Valemount is a friendly town located just 28km/17mi from Mount Robson, and noted for great birdwatching, hiking, fishing, and water activities. Valemount also has a range of dining and accommodation options, which visitors to Mount Robson Provincial Park can easily access.

Where to Begin

Located at the western entrance to Mount Robson Provincial Park, just off Highway 16, the Visitor Centre provides a wealth of information to visitors about the park and surrounding area. Stop by and pick up tips on fishing hotspots and hiking trails, as well as area maps.
