Mackenzie
Mackenzie (population: 4,539) is located within the Rocky Mountain Trench at the southern end of Williston Lake, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in North America. The town was named after the famous explorer Alexander Mackenzie, who camped near the townsite on his epic journey to the Pacific in 1793.
You don't have to travel far to experience the natural, unspoiled wilderness that provides ample opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, camping, wildlife viewing and photography. An abundance of snow turns Mackenzie into a winter wonderland lasting six months, and provides perfect conditions for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, skating, snowshoeing and ice fishing.
