Kamloops
Kamloops (population: 80,376) is located in south-central British Columbia, at the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers. The second largest city in the BC interior and the "Tournament Capital of Canada," it maintains 84 municipal parks and world-class sporting facilities.
Kamloops gets more than 2,000 hours of sunshine each year. This, combined with an average summer temperature of 27.2°C (81°F), encourages rapid plant and fish growth in the more than 200 lakes within an hour's drive. The area is widely recognized as a freshwater fishing hotspot. The landscape is quite variable. In addition to hundreds of lakes, there are many areas of dry forest, hilly areas that are largely treeless and grasslands that support several endangered species.
