Along the banks of the Peace River in the Rocky Mountains, you’ll find Hudson’s Hope (population: 1,012). The lure of peace and tranquility in the area is unmistakable.

There are lakes and rivers, making the region a great fishing destination. Wildlife thrives amid the sprawling hills and valleys.

BC’s third oldest mainland community, Hudson’s Hope was first established in 1805 as a trading post. Known then as Rocky Mountain Portage Fort, it was built by legendary explorer Simon Fraser and later operated by the Hudson’s Bay Company. Far from its fur trading past, today’s main industries are hydroelectric power production, agriculture and forestry, with great potential for coal mining as well.

Hudson's Hope welcomed the dinosaurs over one million years ago. You can still see their tracks in the town. You can also see the W.A.C. Bennett Dam, one of the largest earthen dams in the world.

Outdoor lovers have a range of activities to explore. Spectacular hiking as well as fishing and wildlife viewing can be found.
